Mehta briefed the august gathering the reasons behind continued stalemate over the Doha Round of world trade negotiations, the outcome of which is unlikely to offer any meaningful gains to the poor countries as well as lack of commitment from the developed nations to help achieve the MDG-8 that calls for global partnership for development.
